Touhou 13 Ten Desires – Completed [again]!

The first time I cleared Touhou 13, I found it to be a lot easier than the previous installments. But looking at the replay, I noticed that I wasn’t playing the game at full frame rate. It seems the frame rate dropped to half (30fps) in the two final stages. This meant the spell cards where a lot easier because the bullets where moving at half their speed, making it easier to dodge.

I didn’t want this type of victory so I messed around with the custom.exe (the game’s settings) until I was able to make the game run at full frame rate. I challenged the game again, and it wasn’t as easy as my first tries. But a few tries later and I managed to clear the game with all characters and without the slowdowns. This is the victory I wanted.

But still, the game was easier than previous games…

Well…that was fast. I wasn’t expecting to get my first no continue clear of this game this fast. But then again, just has ZUN promised, this game was indeed easier than previous games. Or maybe it was easier for me since I was playing (and cleared) the Extra Stages of EoSD, PCB, and IN.

Touhou 07 – Playing With the Familiars

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, being able to see the hitbox when focusing makes a lot of difference! I couldn’t see it in Touhou 06, so its Extra Stage was hellish…that and the fact that you only get four lives at maximum (I can only make it to Flandre with three though lol).

This time, this Extra Stage was easier to clear, still was a challenge, but managed to clear it in a lot less attempts than Touhou 06!

I learned my lesson and learned to use bombs whenever I have even the slightest feeling I’ll get hit by a bullet. Plus, in this game when you get Cherry Bonuses you get a barrier which disintegrates all bullets onscreen after getting hit so you don’t have to waste a bomb. It makes you fail card captures if used/hit when dealing with a spellcard, but better making it through and not capture it than game over! lol
